Algunos estudiantes me han recomendado el sitio Babbel para aprender español. Explorando este sitio he encontrado un artículo muy interesante con 10 consejos para aprender una lengua. Lo fascinante del artículo es ver, y escuchar, a Matthew Youlden  hablando con fluidez 9 lenguas.
Fascinante  y sin duda inspirador. Espero que les sea útil.

Hello everyone, some students have recommended the site Babbel to learn Spanish. Exploring this site I found a very interesting article with 10 tips to learn a language. La gramática con el Señor Jordan

Hola a todos,

Espero que se encuentren muy bien. Buscando en la red  hace un tiempo, encontré los
 videos del Señor Jordan. El Señor Jordan es un profesor joven que vive en Estados Unidos y ha creado una serie de videos para explicar contenidos gramaticales y también para practicar conversación. Hay videos para niveles básicos e intermedios.
Lo que más me gusta de sus videos es la claridad de las explicaciones, su pronunciación del español y sobre todos su sentido del humor.
Debo agradecer al Señor Jordan por presentarnos la gramática de una manera tan amena.

I hope you are doing well. Searching the net a while ago, I found the videos of Mr. Jordan . Mr. Jordan is a young Spanish teacher who lives in America and has developed a series of videos to explain grammar content and to practice conversation. There are videos for basic and intermediate levels.
What I like most about his videos is the clarity of the explanations, his pronunciation of Spanish and above all his sense of humor.
I must thank Señor Jordan for giving us such a entertaining way to learn Spanish grammar.

Feliz Año 2015

Hola a todos, bienvenidos a la primera edición del año de UN PASO MÁS. Como saben estuve de vacaciones en Chile por dos meses. El viaje fue perfecto y pude disfrutar de una lindas fiestas con mi familia y amigos. Con mi hija tuvimos el privilegio de visitar la Isla de Pascua, una isla misteriosa y fascinante que está ubicada a 3,512 kilometres de Chile continental. La Isla de Pascua es mundialmente conocida por sus “moais” y en 1995 fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Ojalá algún día puedan visitarla.

Hello everyone , welcome to the first edition of UN PASO MAS. As you know I was on vacation in Chile for two months. The trip was perfect and I could enjoy a nice holiday with my family and friends. With my daughter we had the privilege of visiting Easter Island , a mysterious and fascinating island which is located 3,512 kilometers of continental Chile. Easter Island is world famous for its “moais” and in 1995 was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. I hope one day you can visit it.

En esta edición les recomiendo una serie de TV para estudiantes de español llamada EXTRA. En mi opinión es apropiada para todos los niveles y aunque está dirigida a estudiantes jóvenes estoy segura que los adultos, jóvenes de corazón, la disfrutarán también.

In this issue I recommend you a TV series for students of Spanish called EXTRA . In my opinion it is suitable for all levels and although it is aimed at young students I am sure that adults , young at heart, will enjoy it too.

 “This serie has 13 episodes each with Spanish subtitles. Sam, with only a very basic grasp of Spanish, comes to stay with his penpal, Lola. Sam's efforts to get to grips with the language provide the central dynamic for the series' language learning content. The series is particularly suitable for adolescents and young adults  who can relate to the contextual setting and implied meanings in the screenplay.”

 

 

Learning Spanish watching soap operas? ¿Por qué no?

Según los expertos, las telenovelas nos permiten aumentar nuestro vocabulario y conocer la existencia de palabras que desconocíamos. Se han convertido en un fenómeno tan exitoso como herramienta para aprender el español, que hay académicos dedicados al tema.

Como le dijo a BBC Mundo Jorge Ignacio Covarrubias, secretario de la Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua Española, "muchos académicos sostienen que las telenovelas contribuyen a la unificación del idioma, que las telenovelas aportan términos que luego pasan al bagaje común".
Y es que según señaló Covarrubias a BBC Mundo, las telenovelas cumplen un papel muy importante en el mantenimiento del español y en hacer que la comunicación sea más fluida entre nativos y extranjeros.

According to experts , “telenovelas” ( soap operas) allow us to increase our vocabulary  and to  know the existence of words we did not know . They have become so successful as a tool for learning Spanish  that now there are scholars dedicated to study this phenomenon.

Jorge Ignacio Covarrubias , secretary of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language , told BBC NEWS: "Many scholars indicate that telenovelas contribute to the unification of language, soap operas provide terms that are then passed to the common everyday language" .
Covarrubias also said that  telenovelas play a very important role in the maintenance of Spanish and make communication more fluid between natives and foreigners.

El Día de los Muertos

Hola a todos,

Hemos celebrado recientemente una fiesta muy interesante: el Día de los Muertos. Esta tradición para honrar y celebrar la vida de los difuntos se celebra principalmente en México y en algunos países de latinoamericana.
En la página de las películas he incluido un hermoso corto que muestra el significado de esta festividad.

Hello everyone,
We recently celebrated a very interesting holiday: Day of the Dead. The tradition to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased is celebrated mainly in Mexico and some countries of Latin America.
On the "Mis peliculas favoritas" I've included a beautiful short film that shows the meaning of this festivity.
Here I have also included a brief video explaining, in Spanish, this special celebration.
